Welcome to Youree Drive Middle School!  The faculty and staff are dedicated to making your learning experiences meaningful and pleasant. We are very pleased to be here at Youree and hope you look foward to join us.

Youree Drive Junior High was founded in 1959 and is located in the southeastern part of the city and parish.  For years, Youree was made up of the 7^th, 8^th, and 9^th grades.  Beginning with the 1982-83 school year, our school became Youree Drive Middle School with grades 6, 7, and 8 attending. A middle school is a school in the middle of the school ladder, kindergarten through high school.  Youree will build upon the experiences you have already received in the elementary school program.

We are excited about your being at Youree and hope you are making plans to be a successful student.  A successful student has clearly defined goals, knows the rules to follow, is willing to do the necessary work, and makes the necessary sacrifies for reaching those goals.

The educational programs at Youree have been designed to meet the social, physical, emotional, and intellectual needs of the middle level student in grades 6 through 8.  Special emphasis is given to a strong core curriculum, numerous exploratory courses and activities, individualized/personalized instruction, diversity in teacher certification, guidance and human relations, and a gradual transition from elementary to secondary education.
