8th Grade Celebration Reminder! 🎉 Tomorrow, 8th grade students only may wear free dress for the 8th Grade Celebration. Students may wear school-appropriate athletic shorts. Free Dress Reminders: No tank tops, Nike Pros, slides, or Crocs. The no-go list has been updated, so students should check the list before tomorrow. Students will report to 1st hour like normal. No backpacks should be brought to school. We will be outside for the majority of the day, so students may want to wear or bring sunscreen. We will also have a small optional water balloon fight. Students probably will NOT need a change of clothes, but they may pack one in a small bag if they would like. Please note that bags will be kept in the gym and will not be locked in a room. Our Spartans are coding, creating, and problem-solving! 💻🎮 Ms. Saulsbury’s IBCA/BCA classes presented their final projects of the year, and they did an amazing job! Students used Scratch to code their own video games and then built custom controllers to play them. Using Makey Makeys, they connected their handmade controllers to the computers and were able to control their games in real time. This project allowed students to combine coding, creativity, design, and hands-on problem-solving. YDMS is looking forward to a successful LEAP 2026 Testing Week with our Spartans! Our students (grades 6, 7, & 8) will participate in state-mandated LEAP testing from April 27th to May 1. Testing will begin each morning promptly. Students should plan to get a good night's sleep, eat a good breakfast in the morning, and prepare to do their best! Please make arrangements to ensure that your student attends school regularly and on time for the entire school day on these important days. Students will not be allowed to check out from school until after school-wide testing is completed each day. All electronic devices (cell phones, smart watches, earbuds, Beats, smart glasses, etc.) will be collected before testing and will be returned after testing is completed each day. Best practices are for students to leave electronic devices at home during testing. If a student violates test security by keeping an electronic device, his/her test will be voided. Jackets and sweaters may be worn but cannot have pockets. No backpacks are allowed during testing, but lunch boxes and purses are allowed.We are looking forward to a successful testing experience. We appreciate your support!
