YDMS is looking forward to a successful LEAP 2026 Testing Week with our Spartans! Our students (grades 6, 7, & 8) will participate in state-mandated LEAP testing from April 27th to May 1. Testing will begin each morning promptly. Students should plan to get a good night's sleep, eat a good breakfast in the morning, and prepare to do their best! Please make arrangements to ensure that your student attends school regularly and on time for the entire school day on these important days. Students will not be allowed to check out from school until after school-wide testing is completed each day. All electronic devices (cell phones, smart watches, earbuds, Beats, smart glasses, etc.) will be collected before testing and will be returned after testing is completed each day. Best practices are for students to leave electronic devices at home during testing. If a student violates test security by keeping an electronic device, his/her test will be voided. Jackets and sweaters may be worn but cannot have pockets. No backpacks are allowed during testing, but lunch boxes and purses are allowed.We are looking forward to a successful testing experience. Your student should be bringing home an orange informational letter today. This document contains critical updates regarding your child's eligibility for the upcoming 8th-grade celebration and ceremony.

Please review this letter immediately for the following:

- Eligibility Status: The front of the page indicates if your student is currently cleared to participate or if there are outstanding requirements (such as behavior contracts, library fines, or school fees) that must be resolved.

- Ceremony Details: The reverse side contains essential information regarding the 8th Grade Ceremony, including the ticket distribution process and the mandatory dress code.

- Action Required: Please ensure your student provides you with this document this evening to avoid missing any deadlines or ceremony requirements.

LEAP TESTING STARTS 4/27-5/1! We are excited for our students' hard work to show on their LEAP Tests! Our students (grades 6, 7, & 8) will participate in state-mandated LEAP testing April 27th - May 1st. Testing will begin promptly each morning. Students should plan to get a good night's sleep, eat a good breakfast in the morning, and prepare to do their best! Please make arrangements to ensure that your student attends school each day and is on time for these very important school days. Our first bell rings at 7:55. Students are expected to be in class and ready to test by 8:00. Students will not be allowed to check out from school until after school-wide testing is completed each day. All electronic devices (cell phones, smart watches, ear buds, headphones, smart glasses, etc.) will be collected from students before testing and will be returned to students at the end of each school day. We encourage students to leave electronic devices at home during testing. Failure to follow our school-wide electronic device policy for testing will result in disciplinary action and the test will be voided. Jackets and sweaters may be worn during testing, but cannot have pockets. No backpacks are allowed during testing. Students should leave all backpacks at home during testing. Small lunch boxes and small purses are allowed. We look forward to a successful Leap Test. We appreciate your support as we work to ensure our students' success!
