Two YDMS Engineering teams competed in the largest Lego Robotics qualifying tournament for the 1st Lego League in the state of Louisiana. The teams used coding, engineering design, and team work to earn points through various robotic and project challenges. Out of 16 teams, the team consisting of Shinning Qiao, Braylon Anderson, Connor Anglin, and Silas Kalvelage placed 2nd in Robot Performance. The team consisting of Alex Huber, Swayer Burton, Mario Bolden, and Caleb Nissley placed 2nd for their Innovation Project presentation and this team qualified for the state tournament to be held in New Orleans.

Students will attend a full day of school on Tuesday, December 16, before that evening’s Parent-Teacher Conferences. More information about conferences will be shared next week. There will be no school for students on Wednesday, December 17. Teachers and staff will participate in a professional development day, and no students will be on campus.
